UK Credit Rating - Your History

Your Credit History has two main components.
- Internal Credit History. If the lender has loaned to the same customer previously, he will likely have detailled records of how well the transaction was conducted. This is credit history, and is often referred to as 'internal' credit history - internal to the particular business.
- External Credit History. Internal credit history normally will not satisfy a lenders risk evaluation process, particulary if it is a new customer who will not have any. Even for existing customers, the lender will be keen to learn how the individual has conducted other credit transactions with other businesses. This is 'external' credit history, and external credit history is provided by an external credit reference agency (CRA).

This data is provided to the CRAs by lenders on a monthly basis for each account held.
